is a king snake.... they are renowned for being like this. You do get some passive kings, I myself have a puppy tame MBK... but the majority of kings I have had experience with or come across can be nippy. Its just what they do. Unlike a corn snake who would tend to retreat and hide away.

You can carry something around with you for 24 hrs... a sock for example... and pop it in the housing, so that the snake can become used to your scent. This has been known to help some snakes settle down. I tried it myself once and it seemed to work.

The sock method worked for me too :)
I've only got my King snake for 2 months now, the first 2 weeks she kept biting which we found kind of cute.
She has really calmed down since then, must have been regular handling and the sock method that helped. She latched onto me several times without letting go, maybe that helped her understand I wasnt a food item :/

it could be coming into to shed or something, sometimes they just get irritable for a bit... You should really handle everyday tbh, especially not after feeding, constant handling is stressful to any reptile...

I would get a pair of leather gloves. That way it can bite you all it wants but it won't hurt you, so you won't be so jumpy. Over time it should calm down but this can take months not weeks.

This is one of the "joys" of keeping kingsnakes.

Primark are selling leather gloves for £2 at the moment. Just don't wear them outside as they have a bit of a "Michael Jackson" look about them

My wife names all of mine. But for yours I say call him Harry!

If you use the IMG link then you can display your actual picture rather than just the link:-
