Hello folks.
Ever since I moved my MBK into a 3ft viv I've noticed that he/she's a lot more active. The snake is eating well so I'm not worried by that at all.
The thing I've noticed is that if he's in a hide I can lift it away and get the snake out no problem. However if he's out and about and I try to lift him he goes for me. I then have to hook him and get him out that way. Once he's out there's no bother at all.
I take it this is just viv defence behaviour?
Has anyone else noticed this type of behaviour in MBK's, or any other King for that matter? |

I have noticed this in almost every snake iv moved from a Rub into a viv ! They get all pushy and start throwing their weight about. Once he has been in his new home for a while he should settle back down..It"s all the new space that does it, i reckon?? |

Yea I reckon the space does add to it, though it's well packed out with hides and plants and stuff. He's been in the new viv from the start of July (he was in a 2ft viv before then) and no sign of him settling down yet. He really doesn't mind if you pick a hide up and lift him, but if he's out and about you'd better be quick lol.
I just hook him and when he's out he's as good as gold. In fact today he spent a good 20 minutes going up and down my sleeves and wrapping himself round my head. |

I have one in a 4' by 2' tall viv, he loves it! I haven't had him long , only a few week but he's fed from my hand and I was surprised how gently he took the mouse, plus he's now blue-eyed ready to shed so if that comes off ok then I'll be well happy. I have corns but Vincent (the black shadow ) is a lot more active. Get one they are stunning. |
