hi,

just as i thought everything was going great something has gone wrong and my snake has been burnt along her back. after changing from a faun with a heat mat to a viv with a ceramic heater everything seemed fine. however last night i noticed a stripe down her back that looked like shedding skin so got her out to look at her and was shocked to find her burnt. i cant say how it has happened i have the ceramic on a stat with a bulb guard and the thermometers max reading was 30.6oc for that day. i took her to my local reptile shop as the lady there does a lot of work with rescue snakes and lizards and she has advised me on what i should do. so i have her back in a hospital setup faun with paper towel and spray her twice a day with this stuff. i have given her a smaller meal of a pinkie and she has woofed it down so all i can do now is keep her clean dry and wait until she sheds it out. she is still very lively and nosy as usual. i am totally peed off and guilty with what has happened and will never use ceramic bulbs again. sorry its a bit long winded just thought id let you know.

thanks
mark

sorry to hear that but as i said in your new viv post, that guard did seem to small for the ceramic and your snake has been able to get too close to it or the guard has got too hot, hope it recovers soon.

hi,

lee you were right about the guard. the new heat mat arrived today as well, just a day too late. its just a shame my snake suffered for my mistake but it wont happen again.
