Lovely Hypo Darren. Nice to see you are becomming a Hardcore Milksnake fan like myself.
Hondurans will outgrow the Nelsons within 2 years. I, and many others have had Honduran grow to the excess of 6ft, Almost doubling a Nelsons.
Interms of wanting to know the differences between the subspecies of Milksnakes, Theres several differences that seperate them. Usually it is size, Some Milksnakes only grow to 1.5-2ft, And some grow to 7ft. Interms of behaviour, Most Milks are shy and nervous snakes that musk (especially when hatchling), Some hatchlings like Hondurans do bite for there first couple of months. Pueblans are extremely nervous as hatchlings and musk when ever touched. This being said, all this behaviour stops after about a year with regurlar handling.
Anything else, Just let me know :)

wicked, thanks for the info scott. i hope mine gets upto 6 foot :D
bit of an update on her - i just got back from my girlfriends after spending about 2 days down there away from the snake. i put my hand into the faun to try give her some fresh water. as soon as i moved the dish the snake darted around the faunarium smacking into the sides and everything. she shot out of the top of the faun too! i had to catch her and put her back in. she's extremely nervous atm. the guy in the shop said she hasn't been handled alot over the last year. do you think she'll calm down after letting her settle for the week with me changing her water and then with regular handling after that?
cheers! sorry for the rant ;) |

Not a problem Darren.
Interms of the darting about, This is all so common in the Hypo Hondurans. The 4 I have kept have all bee darty, They are still just coming up to a year. It must be in the genetics, As all the Hypo Hondurans I keep are like yours, Extremely nervous and fast. I've managed to loose them a couple of times, But there not to difficult to find with there bright orange banding. But to answer your question, they will grow out of this, Hondurans in the first year to about 18 months are extremely nervous, But as soon as they pass that age, they seem to be light-headed to say the least.

I only own 6 right now, But before I sold up (prior to believing I was leaving the country) I had 19 Milksnakes. I will quite simply beat that number within a couple of months! :) This time round im going for the more uncommon subspecies available, Like Stuarts, Blacks, Easterns, Guatamalans etc.

Of course I will add pictures of each individualm, Im a proud father. I'm so passionate regarding Milksnakes it's become a slight obsession, Not to the point of a Horder obviously. Each snake gets all the attention it requires :)
I apologise for stealing this thread...
