musking is a defense thing they do when they fell threatened,it's basicly horrible yellow stuff that comes out of their rear end and stinks, sometimes it just runs out and other times they will flick/spin their tails so it flys every where, this usaly calms down once their usd to being handled |

Musking is a defence mechanism to warn of predators, most Colubrids use. Think of it like Skunks leave a bad odour behind for defencive needs.
Most Milksnakes grow out of it after 1 year of age. I have found Campbelli (Pueblans) to be particularly bad muskers as hatchlings. But hey, Least they don't bite aswell unlike the Hondurensis (Hondurans).

As Scott has mentioned this is a defence mechanisim usually employed by fairly young milks!...Although, rarely handled older milks will still musk. It is completly harmless, but annoying (my jeans always stink these days!!!)
Most young milks will grow out of this as they become yearlings. |
Lots of Milks!! Few Royals, corns, Rosie Boas and Childrens Pythons. One Bci, and one Irian Jaya Carpet! |
