My MBK is a CB11, which sadly is all I know about her age. After noticing that most of the snakes seem to be shedding at once, I was wondering if there's some sort of breeding season where most of the snakes are bred, so that I could try and narrow down how old she is. She's just over 2ft and weighs 3lbs give or take.

Are you sure about the 3lb weight? It seems pretty excessive.

My MBK is a rehomer and can only be guessed at being 4 or 5 years old, 4'5" and 825 grams. That would be almost half the weight of yours.

Even my Carpet Python at 5'8" just makes the 1.5 Kg mark which is around 3 lbs.

I'm an idiot. I read the scales wrong, if I read it correctly, it's 3oz, not lbs. My mistake :P

Ha-ha-ha! That's a big give or take.

I think the mating season starts around February or March. Allow gravid time and it would put hatch time roughly June -> July.

A month either way won't make much difference. As long as you know the year of hatching it should be good enough.

So she'd be just over a year old? Thanks. And is 110g a healthy weight for her age? Considering she's been fed a fluff once a week :)

Go by the bump in her belly as the fluff goes down. It should leave a noticeable bulge. If still looking skinny, step it up to 2 fluffs per week for a month or two and then up it to single small mouse.

Best thing to do is keep a monthly diary of the weight and monitor the increase. Hard to say what 'average' is as all snakes will vary. Go by the general health, condition, pooping & shedding.

Are you sure it's a CB11? Going by my records my CB10 kings and corn weigh less than your snake and they are fed one small mouse a week and my cb11 kings all weigh half what yours does. It just seems quite a weight to get to in a year eating only fluffs.

I only have what the site I got her from says, and it definitely say she's CB11, so I dunno. I don't know what they fed her before I got her though.

I'd be very surprised if a CB11 mbk weighed 110g already, I guess she could be early 2011 so well over 18 months now.

It's a mystery alright... I'm not 100% certain she's actually an MBK... Are there any other subspecies that resemble an MBK? Because her markings don't seem like they're going anywhere soon, and her belly is white and black.

The belly of an MBK looks like pearly blue mussel shell.

Yeah, I've seen pictures. Her's definitely looks like it, but with markings dotted all over it, and she's also got gold-ish bands all down her. It doesn't matter too much, I'm fairly certain she's an MBK, but it would be nice to know for sure, but either way she's my girl and I couldn't really care less if she's an MBK or not

Could it be a Desert King? Check the Members Snake pics.
Post a picture to show what she actually looks like. As you say, what's in a name.

Hmmm... I looked at some deser king pics on google, and I can definitely see the resemblence... Although the markings are much less pronounced. If I didn't know any better, from looking at the photos i'd say she was an MBK/Desert King cross...

I'll try and get a decent pic of her tomorrow, but it's difficult with my phone

MBKs can have alot of white on them, especially on the underside so don't worry they vary alot.
