I noticed this morning that there was a little skin left on my snake after shedding. So i followed advice from reptile shop to soak the snake in a little warm water and to gentle let the snake run through your hands to get the spare skin off then i noticed this weird white mark or crust i tried rubbing with a damp cotten wool ball but it would not come off.My milk snake got realy crossand bit me i did not even felt when i got bitten (this is my first time i have been bitten)i don't think it's burn my only guesse is it's some stubben skin from shedding .I thought all the skin had come off, does anybody have any thoughts on what this could be?? should i take him to the vet? |

Twice a week to feed?! I'd look at upping the food size and keep it to once a week.... Not twice a week. Also, knocked some scales off? Leaving the skin underneath exposed? I think pictures are really needed.... |

I noticed yesterday that there is another post on this forum about a king snake that as rubbed his scales off and when the guy when to put some snake aid on the snake wound it struck at him well this happened to me when i went to clean my snakes wound but my snake bit me.My snake wound is on his back/side and when i go to take a photo he moves and you can't see the wound on the photo but as soon as catch a photo of the wound i will post it on forum.I remember when he was shedding i put some slate in his tank to help him shed and one day his head had shed he was rubbing him self against the slate and it fell down on to the snake, he seemed fine so i thought nothing of it i think this is when he hurt himself. We have measured the width of my snake he is to thin to go up to the next size food. But with him looking for food when he was fed only a few hours earlyer so we have had to up the amount times i feed him.

rather than feed him twice a week you could just give a double feed at the same time for a few weeks until hes big enough for a bigger prey. |

This^^ If he is not big enough to go up a size, try two of the current size.
As for the white mark, if a piece of slate fell on him, it could be from that. Our Royal slid down a pole and scuffed his scales on the concrete ground.
To be honest, if the snake isn't liking it being touched and is reacting as if it hurts, I would consider the vets, if it is the scales that have been ripped off, then veterinary treatment is the best course of action. If not, then at least your mind will be put at ease. |

Yeah i was thinking of taken my snake to the vets but from what i have been informed by the local snake breeder is the wound has not been bleeding, the wound is nice and clean he is very active and in good spirits. Then again if the wound does not heal or it starts to go nasty or if starts to feel ill then i will take him to the vet with no question or seconed thoughts.Iam going to try another photo when he comes out again. |
