Hi i have just bought my first snake wich is a milk snake he is 6 months old and is absoultly stunning. My question is about shedding, i think my snake is shedding he has gone from a fantastic orange to a dull grey/blue colour his eyes have gone cloudy, he has also gone into hiding. When i first got him he was out most of the afternoon but for the last 4 days he has gone into hiding what should i do? how long does shedding last roughly? |

If it has dulled down could well be shedding, dont do anything just leave it be and replace the water. Shedding can take anywhere upto 2 weeks so just be a wee bit patient and wait for the shiny king to appear.
And we will expect photos of the freshly shed king when it does happen.

hi and welcome to the forum,he will brighten up a bit before shedding, when he does brighten up might be worth moving the water bowl nearer the warm end to increase humidity |

Thanx for your comments , when i went to buy a snake i saw him and fell in love not just his colours but his whole gentle attitude.I took this photo this morning caus from what i can see the rest of the skin has come off, i checked his eyes and his tail from wich i have been told is the importent bit.The only thing is he did not shedd all in one piece does this matter. |

What a great looking fella!
Worth the wait while he was in hiding if he's going to look like that after shedding ;)
Very jealous! :) |

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I'm sure the next shed will be whole but its very common to retain shed on the tail tip, if it happened just run the snake through a damp tea towel or something similar.
How long have you had him for? And he is truly stunning :) |
