my mexi black seems to have bumped his head, as his scales look damaged.
will he be okay?
he does seem to use his head as a battering ram but still, will it get better when he sheds?

hannah.

Hi Hannah hows it going? From what I can make out snakes seem to heal any injuries with each shedding that they do. So if its a bad injury that it's got then it will take more than one shed to heal thats the jist of what i've picked up.

if there's any open wounds you should clean them with Tamodine or something similar. if there's just scale damage, like carl said, it may just take a few sheds before it looks right again. if there's anything specific in the viv that he's damaging himself on it's best removed, if he's striking the glass unfortunately there's not a lot you can do other than move the viv to a quiet place where you're not frequently walking past, and make sure any other pets (eg cats!) aren't harrassing him by peering in or tapping the glass! my cats are little sh!ts for doing that!

I think it's a mexi-black thing because Nagini did this when we first got him. He even took a complete scale off of his head somehow.

Luckily it went away in a few sheds. Think it took a good 6 months to heal, but it's completely gone now.
