hi all
as advised,i tried to feed my cali king snake a mouse today, hes a strike feeder so i used tongs! well he wasnt amused just bolted about and shook his tail a bit,so i left the mouse in his viv and when i went back to look hed eaten it,is this what they normally do,i think he was a bit frightened poor thing,i got him yesterday, and im his 2nd owner i think,he seems active enough climbing about etc,was told to feed him in a seperate smaller tank but i didnt want to handle him as he was so defensive, didnt want to scare him,im a first time snake owner and dont want to stress the poor thing out,any tips and advice would be really appreciated thanks

Hi there, he was frightened, and letting you know that by rattling his tail its best to let him settle for a week or so after the move before feeding or handling.
He should be fine by the time he is due fed again ( also rember best wait 48hrs after feeding before handling. You also said he is normally fed outside the viv in a smaller tank or rub it is best to continue doing this
