Lampropeltis pyromelana pyromelana This one is very sad for me. I found this juvenile Arizona Mountain Kingsnake on a road high in the Huachuca Mountains. Unfortunately, the animal had been hit by a vehicle and was DOR. I photographed it anyway, for my location data. To this day, this is the most disappointing DOR I have found, a real heartbreaker.

On a side note, I love the UK use of the word "cracking" as an adjective. Awesome.

Posted - 18/08/2011 : 19:17:47 Sorry, DOR is probably not as common of a term in the UK as it is here in the US... dead on road. It is a very sad and frustrating part of herping. Some nights I will see upwards of ten snakes DOR, many of them California Kingsnakes. |

Posted - 18/08/2011 : 11:39:01 What does DOR stand for *stupid* They are lovely pictures though, there's something special about seeing an animal in their natural habitat |
