These are not captive animals so I am not sure if this post belongs right here. I thought that you folks may enjoy seeing some of the wild Kingsnakes that I have encountered over the last couple of years.

Lampropeltis pyromelana pyromelana This one is very sad for me. I found this juvenile Arizona Mountain Kingsnake on a road high in the Huachuca Mountains. Unfortunately, the animal had been hit by a vehicle and was DOR. I photographed it anyway, for my location data. To this day, this is the most disappointing DOR I have found, a real heartbreaker.

Sorry, DOR is probably not as common of a term in the UK as it is here in the US... dead on road. It is a very sad and frustrating part of herping. Some nights I will see upwards of ten snakes DOR, many of them California Kingsnakes. |

On a side note, I love the UK use of the word "cracking" as an adjective. Awesome. I want to start using that over here in the US. |

They are some stunning snakes, I do especially like the zonata. If you ever stumble across one of those again, jiffy bag it my way. |
