LITERALLY feel like screaming at my ex-housemate. %$^£*$&^*(%%£^$"
The reason Darren and I got into snakes is because we fell in love with my ex-housemate's snake Dave. [normal corn] was just having a chat with him and asked baout dave, and joe said "he's on his way out" because "i just dont have the time to buy mice, i'm working all the time!" To be fair, i went absolutely mental at him. straight on the blower, saying Darren and I will buy him and pick him up. [Joe's in Birmingham, we're in Wales] He seemed a little reluctant because he "can't get time off work" but i had none of it. Darren's got room to keep him, and we'll both pay for any treatment/feed/bills to bring Dave back to health.
Long story shot, Darren & I will be bombing up to Birmingham at the end of the week to rescue the poor thing. We're so angry.
I do understand that work can be a bitch and sometimes it's hard to keep to your usual snakey regime, but like he said, he just doesn;t have the time anymore.
i really hope Dave's going to be okay :( He hasnt been fed in 3 weeks [he's an adult, a few yrs old], he cant remember last time he was cleaned out or when his water was changed. I asked him to change Dave's water immediately, and check him over for mites.
So worried :( Proper cant wait to have him :( nurse him back to health & either keep him or sell him on to a good home. Stress. |

Not surprised you're angry, I get that way just reading about it!
PLEASE let us know asap how the snake is once you get it. Looks like it's going to be yet another week because it's Sunday and you said next weekend.
I hope the snake will be alright in the meantime .
Hugs.

Thanks.
Yeah 3 weeks isnt too bad for an adult, but when i asked about the cleanliness of the viv & the last time he cleaned him out, he replied "errrr, long time", same goes for water.
so i've told him its essential to change water every other day til i get to him. I cant wait to grab that litte snake
Wont be taking the 3x1 viv from him, it wont fit in my car [mini] so we've bought a RUB and we're gonna kit it all out before our newbie arrives. We're quarantining [sp?] him for a week or so while we check him over for mites/book at appointment with vet, and when we're sure he's better, we'll move his viv in with the others.
Sorry that message was a tad aggressive. I just cant deal with abuse, and flippent attitudes towards it. |

"Hasn't got the time" - for a snake! They're not exactly high maintenance! Not feeding for 3 week not too bad IF snake decent weight and healthy, but no water disgraceful. Even without regular handling, how many minutes does it take to feed, clean out, and check water! No wonder you're angry. Hope you can collect him asap and get him sorted. |

I know. It not like a dog where you need to train it. disgraceful.
put it this way, that snake is coming home with Darren and I regardless. I started off saying "we'll buy him from you" [as we wont use his viv in case its crawling.. lord knows when the last time he was cleaned out] but thinking about it now, sod that idea. We're doing him a favour really. Not that i give a rats about him, but that's the way we'll put it if he insists on payment.
The thing that worries me is that if i hadn't by chance asked about Dave, my ex housemate would have left his home in brum for a month or so for christmas [to be with the family] and the snake would have been left to his own devices & been all alone. I hope we've caught him in time.
I hate waiting. I want to go NOW to collect Dave but i'm waiting on a text message or call to let me know when he's not working next. I'm hoping it's this thursday. |

If you can go now then go, wait until he gets home, at some point tonight he should get there, isn't it? Or does he stay away overnight?
He should be banned from keeping animals.

I could but he's moved house since i lived with him and i'm not 100% where he lives now. i'll take down his house number/ post code etc for sat nav next time i speak to him & if all else fails and he goes back on us having the snake, then i'll report him to rspca. |

Thanks Kaz.
Well i spoke to him last night and it's all go. we'll be picking Dave up friday morning. My ex housemate has also promised he's changing Dave's water everyday. I'm just worrying about the conditions of his viv. Nevermind, hopefully he'll be a strong 'un. Thanks for all your support guys, i was just so angry at the time i needed to vent it all out. |

We picked Dave up today. To be fair, he looked ok, was just freezing. we checked his thermostat [he had a lamp] and it was on 23 :\
we warmed up the car for the journey home and he was nice and warm by the time we got back to wales.
darren's feeding him tonight, so fingers crossed he'll munch :) |

I was thinking that exact thought, but when i text my ex housemate telling him we were feeding Dave tonight, he replied with "yeah good idea, feed him asap".. which makes me think that it was probably over 3 weeks ago that he was fed last :\
Darren just weighed him, he's between 2 1/2 - 3 years old and weighs 380g. Not sure if that's acceptable really? He was about the same size as he was when i lived with him, which was around 6 months ago.. |
