hi,

my graybanded king is doing great. she is feeding and shedding ok and is aprox 15 inches long and weights 25 grams now. i have her in a large faun. what i really want is to put her in a 2 foot wooden viv so i can make a more natural setup. would a 2 foot be ok and should i use the mat or get a ceramic heat lamp instead? and aslo what about some lighting as it will be darker to view her in a viv.

thanks
mark

a 2 foot would be fine and personally i go for heat mats rather than ceramic but as long as it is regulated by a stat then i think its just down to personal preference. Although is there really much point in a 2 ft viv? might it not be better to wait until she has outgrown her faun and put her straight into a 3 or 4 ft which will last her a lot longer? Obviously its up to you and vivs definately look better, but its just a suggestion. Glad to hear she is doing well tho :)

Or split the difference and go for a 30 inch viv. My grey band was quite happy in one, but then he's not the biggest adult I've seen, somewhere between 3 & 4 ft.

I have personally gone straight from a faun into a 3' viv with my kings but its obviously down to your own preference. As for heating I use ceramic bulbs.
