Hey there,
Just got myself a fantastic baby California King Snake. Black and white striped I think. I'll be sure to post some pictures up soon!
New to keeping snakes, so i hope i can learn a lot from joining this forum! Have got 3 Leopard Geckos and a Bearded Dragon at the moment.
I am thinking of getting a Royal Python soon if I enjoy keeping a Kingsnake.

| Congrats on the purchase. Kings make great first snakes. Get those pics up as soon as possible and we'll give you all the advice we can! |

Thanks a lot. Yeah would love to here some advice. I haven't got my Kingsnake yet. Just bought it from a breeder i know. And he is getting her/him ready to give me early next week!
So bit of a bummer that i haven't got her now. But will definately get some pictures up as soon as i get her.
Will it harm the snake if i sex her as a baby? Or should i wait? |

Have you done it before?
Popping should only be done by an experienced herpetologist, otherwise yes you could harm it. |

I have never popped or probed a snake before.
But i have read and seen lots of videos. I know this doesn't give me any experience.

| I would personally get it done by someone with experience rather than try it myself. Try contacting your local rep shop |

| Get someone to show you (in person) how to do it, how much pressure to use, where to press etc. |

heya and welcome if you're getting it direct from the breeder they'll probably be able to pop it if you ask. popping is the safest method for young snakes then probing is more suitable when they've grown on a bit. |

Hi there T King! Welcome to the forum! Popping should really be done with an experience person to put you in the right direction and tell you if you are doing anything wrong - It can do serious damage if not done correctly.
I'm sure you'll have loads more questions when you get your king. Make sure you stick up some pics when you do!
