Hi guys

Bit of a query for you. I have a variable king snake which I understand is a mountain species from Mexico. - In his viv I have a smallish hide which is the warmist (28degs) a medium hide which is about (24degs) and the main viv is about 21ish. He constantly favours the the 24deg area and only occassionally uses the warmest hide.

I was wondering that being a mountain species (even from mexico) the temparatures are going to be much less at altitude and maybe the general king snake temps are not so accurate.

Just a thought. I don't think its a real problem as he can make his own mind up but I thought I'd get views on this anyway!?

Cheers
Mat

you are probably doing alright with the temps tbh, if he wanted to be hotter/cooler he would move to the appropriate hide so you should be spot on imo

Like Jono said they move to each end accordingly so I wouldnt worry about it. Snoop very rarely uses the hot end.

Hi guys

Yeah, as I said, wasn't worried as he has the choice but more a discussion point as it seems to me snakes adapted to altitude would have lower temparature requirements than there low living cousins!
