Well, when I got Maia she was an angel. She then turned into a right pain in the backside after a month, hissing, taill rattling and biting me every time I tried to pick her up. She still gets agitated when I approach her in the wrong manner (or when she's eating. She wants all the food to herself lol) but I know that's all good. She allows me to pick her up again and I no longer need to hook her into her feed box.
Persistance pays off. *handdusting*
I really want to hold her to celebrate, but she just ate yesterday. =P |

your right persitance does pay off, diablo was a right nutter when i got him but a couple of months of gently gently and he's fine now,it annoys me a bit when owners get rid of their new snakes because their not as soft as a sponge, you have to put the time and effort in as you would with training a puppy.Well done! |

It's funny that this thread appeared, cos I just got musked for the first time by Gomez. It stinks. He really didn't want to be held but I persisted and after 5 minutes or so he calmed down. I've no intention of getting rid of him at all though. Even after 6 days I love the little fella :) |

You're right. With regular handling snakes can calm down very well. One of my BCC's had an RI for a while and I had to inject her every other day and she went from being a really docile snake to being a bit feisty to say the least. After a couple of months of careful handling she is now becoming nice and calm again but she still has the odd moment |
