| If you microwave orchid bark and a little water for 5 mins at full power would this kill any mites and eggs? as i dont want to take the risk of introducing mites to my collection. |

| Thanks Lee will try it with out water but most orchid bark comes damp. For cork bark hides how would any one steralise them? |

| I thought the way was to but a little diluted bleach on it then bake it for a bit, or did I dream that? |

| just gently bake the cork for about a hour,diluted bleach (10%)is ok for branches that wont fit in the oven. |

| i'd go for baking it too, 120*C for an hour will probably kill most beasties and dry the substrate too so you don't have high humidity issues |
