What should I use to cover the heatmat inside a wooden viv (if anything)? I was thinking about a piece of reptile carpet... would that be ok? And how do I secure the covering down so that it doesn't move off the mat?
thanks... |

If you can cover it then it is probably safer as the snake can't then come into direct contact with the mat. Personally I use ceramic bulbs in my vivs with a guard around them as this heats the actual air rather than just the substrate but I know a lot of people use heat mats |

thanks for the replies everyone... I think i shall g with your option GP... no offense to anyone else... And MB, i had heard that heatmats are better for digestion as they heat the snakes body from below rather than the whole air... someone said ths was better... can't rmember exactly why, so that is why ive gone for that method... |
