Hey guys. I'm new here but not totally new to snakes. I've owned a couple ribbon snakes and a western hognose in the past. The hognose unfortunately passed away recently for unknown reasons, and I was fairly upset since it was still very young. I've been wanting to get a new snake but never really considered it since I'm a little scared of losing another one.
I never considered a kingsnake until I saw one at a local reptile store a few days ago. I put a young one on hold and was delighted to see that they're a good beginner species too, so I bought him and took him home.
I haven't decided on a name yet, nor have I taken pictures, but I will soon :3 I decided to join a forum since I like chatting with people with similar animals. |

I will definitely get pics soon and maybe even vids up. He's a little shy so I don't wanna freak him out by dragging him out of his hide. He also rattled his tail at me, which is pretty adorable and an amazing little defense mechanism. I hadn't realized that they did that!
As for what kind, I'm fairly sure he's a common, or striped. He is completely black and white. No rings, but basically black with white spots down his back. :) So pretty. |
