Cracking pics, best I saw around Telford was a red/brown grass snake while I was walking the dog up by Blist Hill.

We get blooming tons of slow worms down ere lee, i have to rake over the grass before i cut it so i don't end up mowing them. Must be something to do with you being at the top of the hill or something.

Only snake I've ever seen in the wild was a hatchling adder. Have a couple of pics somewhere. Might dig them out later

Saw something on those on ITV Countrywise, warden was showing man around, explaining adders on decline but no real threat. Showed an adult and juvenile out enjoying sun. Don't fancy one myself, may have seen one decades ago on south coast, not sure as local lad and me went one way top speed and snake went other flat out. We were butterfly hunting and looked under a sheet of corrugated iron in a field of stubble.

Really didn't seem too bothered at all. Just stayed in that position and waited for us to move on.
