Hiya, and welcome. Dunno about a Mexi black, I don't have one. But apparently Kings can musk a fair bit compared to most other snakes. Mine didn't though. |

Welcome to the forum & Gratz on getting a MBKs,i just got 2 not so long ago. They seem to be more defensive than cornsnakes, when i put them into their new RUB's when they arrived there was tail rattling and they seemed as if they wanted to attack me, so just put them into their new homes & leave them be for a while. Mine seem to be more active than my cornsnake, exploring their homes, they are all around the same age. I don't think theres much difference in they way they are kept, both need around the same temps, hides on both sides, a water bowl & both eat the same food, frozen/thawed mice. I do beilive MBKs don't grow as large as corns. MBKs are just as easy to look after as corns, even if they are more skittish they will calm down with regular handling.
Just remember every snake is unique no matter what the spieces, so you could have one thats very tame & will never try to bite you & you could have one from the same spieces & even the same clutch that will his and rattle its tail at you every time you go near it and try attacking you. Just somthing to bear in mind.
Can't wait to see pictures :) |

heya and welcome over here
i think temperament wise they're pretty different to corns but the set-up and care is pretty similar. |

Welcome to the sight mate. I have one and he is very tame. He did shake his tail and musk a bit when I first got him but hes settled down now and is very friendly. A good choice for a snake. |
