Does anyone know how to tell if a snake is blind?

I have noticed with Indy that he never moves or reacts when my hand or anything is in front of his face, i have checked his eyes, and they are clear.

Does anyone know what there eyse look like if they have lost there sight?

Does he not even flick his tongue or anything?

Smell is their main sense, so he's likely to flick his tongue if anything if put in front of him so he can work out what it is. If he's not tongue flicking then it's a possibility, but maybe you've just got a really chilled out king?

Plus when are you testing this? When you have him out of the viv? It's just that snakes sleep with their eyes open so if you are waving your hand in front of his face while he's relaxing in the viv, he could just be sleeping

Yeah I would go with the sleeping theory, Snoop has done that a few times when I've gone near him.

I would say that if you've got him out and he still doesn't respond then he may be blind but would stick with the sleeping theory for now

He died today at the vets, to cut a long story short he came to me from a rescue with a lump, on xrays it showed to be big inside, further tests showed bacteria, and because of the size of it inside they decided to operate, he came round yesterday after having one of his kidneys removed because it was so badly infected but died earlier this afternoon.

R.I.P Indy my gentle little boy..
