Well that was traumatic.
I've never seen King Julian turn vicious before, but today I was scared even to be holding the tongs anywhere near him. A usual feed generally takes the form of my getting his attention with a whiff of mouse, then luring him over to his feeding dish where he strikes and consumes, like so.

Today was slightly different. I got his attention with the mouse, and he struck at his straight away. He missed, which gave me time to move it over to the feeding dish, but after I put the mouse down he was more interested in my hands! I backed off quickly, so he'd go for the small mouse, not the 6 foot tall one, and that was when he went berserk.
He flew at the mouse, lifting it physically off the dish, shook it around a bit, then dunked it in his water dish, in an attempt to drown it.

He held it down there for a few minutes. I may have played along and made it struggle with the tongs for a bit. ;P
This is just as a reference to where the dish is and where the waterbowl is. He attacked the mouse from the waterbowl side.

And here's a cheeky yawn

XD, that sounds about right deadmansfinger
Thanks nickyff, the shades of yellow change depending on the light where he happens to be. Natural winter light tends to make him more wheat-coloured, sunlight makes him golden yellow :D As does my camera flash, and the light in my room. |
