life on those is 1000-2000 hours so shouldnt be burning out that quick ,maybe its an issue with them causing humidity if their isnt sufficent venting, can you post a pic of your set up? |

Yes bulbs should be on a stat otherwise they are throwing out max temp, they go on a different type of stat than a mat. |

A dimmer stat would be best option as a normal stat will cause bulbs to blow more frequently ,its like you constantly flicking light on and off all day otherwise. |

yeah it is. ok so if i get the same stat as my mat witch is a dimmer stat then the bulbs should be fine but cant see why the bulbs are just popping after an hour or so |

1st theory: maybe heat intensity is too great for the thin glass of the bulb inside the viv, any heating element needs to transfer heat by design,if it cant transfer any or enough heat they tend to go boom.
2nd theory: maybe the surge of power(on and off) from the stat is affecting the bulb internally
3rd theory: bulbs are crap and not meant for the job intended try an exo-terra(or other rep branded bulb) and see how it compares. |

My bulbs used to last like a year, they weren't exo terra but they were like 100w I think?. I got annoyed at them and just switched to using a heatmat though lol |

the bulb is not on a stat i turn the light on at about 7:30 8 ish when she starts to play out. Now the bulb is right next to the top left vent and has a lot or air that comes past that part of the tank. So next step for me is to 1 get a dimmer stat and sort it out and try some diffrent bulbs |

Are you using the bulb for heat or viewing? I'm guessing you have a heatmat? You don't need both :P |

Have you checked your wiring, I went thro 3 heat bulbs in about a month one just yesterday. i gave everything a good shake with a new bulb in and it flickered. I found a loose connection in the ceramic holder. fingers crossed its fixed. |
