My baby corns used to hide under paper towels despite having hides too. My adult.corns and king will also ignore hides from time to time and hide in their.bedding, just something they do sometimes lol

milks are that bit more shy than most snakes, is nothing unusual in going under the paper.

Wouldnt stop her really as it may cause the snake to become stressed which in turn can cause health and/or feeding issues.

If she's comfortable hiding away then leave her to it as GMAC said milks are quite shy compared to other types of snakes.

She may hide under what ever substrate you put in, the thing we all have to respect as owners is that snakes like their private space and time just like any other animal.

As the snake grows just keep handling her so her cofindence grows and she should be more active but as with anything in life their are no guarantee's.

Last but not least if your mat has a thermostat then you should have no worriz, if you dont have 1 though i strongly recommend you get 1 ASAP as the damage you could potentially cause is unbelivable.

The link below is from a sister site but has some valid points and pictures.

My snake used to hide in the substrate a lot, and look for escape routes. I realised we had a lot of piping in the shed at home, and washed it out and sterilised it, and now he stays in there most of the time. I'm no expert, but I'd say it's because it's the tightest space he can find, and I'd recommend finding something similar for your snake. Your snake will stay whereever it's most comfortable.

Yeah mine like old pipes and tubes too. I unno how big your milk is but toilet tubes are great as you can cut them to shape!
