So I finally got my new King snake sexed. Male! I've named him Carlos, as it's a Spanish name that means strong man/ masculine.
The viv I had set up when I took him on was suited to a corn snake, so the branches were thin and he fell from them/ broke them when he attempted to climb them. So, seeing as I was in the Christmas spirit, I got him some new thick branches and logs from the park a few days ago to revamp his viv with. They have all been nuked in the oven and then drowned in boiling water to rid of parasites. I put them in tonight now that they're dried and here he is checking them out.
All set up:
Almost looks happy in this one!
What's up here then?
I R Invisibles!
Thanks! :) |

I am sure that's a smile in the second picture :-) He's probably bemused with the spongebog square pants painted on the stone below lol The setup looks good with the branches. Maybe hard to tell from the pic but does he have a hide on the hot side and the cold side? |

He did have! The hotside is one I made out of papermache in the summer. I'm in the process of making another for the cold side, so I used a cereal box as a make do. As I was rearranging his viv tonight, I discovered a massive poop all down the side of the cereal box cold hide (the joy!). It's sagged and useless. I've found a few cardboard loo roll tubes that will do for now. He must prefer his hot side of the viv. As he only poops around the cold side (so far).
And it's not Spongebob, it's an owl on the pebble! Haha! Theres a mouse one in there too, but I think it's out of shot. |

They always crap in the worst places!!! That owl does look suspiciously like spongebob to me lol What weight is Carlos as he looks about the same size as Albert.
If you are interesting Surrey Pet Supplies are doing the XL Exoterra hides for £8.12 at the moment. I use these for all my snakes as they look great and are easily washed!

I've never paid for a hide! Not when I use the free newspaper we get and some non-toxic glue and make my own. Then paint them and use a safe gloss and bask in my own achievment. :D The gloss makes them easy to wipe down. I just haven't gotton that far with them yet. When tehy're painted I'll pop up a picture. The last one I did was a skull for my corn. |

Sounds good. You should do a guide to making a hide. |
