hi! i got an aprict pueblan about couple week actualle he is 30 cm for 11 gm
i keep him in a acrilic box 30cmx30cmx20cm with a water bowl and one hide box, actually i do not use any heater lamp or heat mat cause im live and raise the snake in thailand so the temperature and humidity its always in a correct range
the first 2 time i fed him with a pinkie he always eat it without anyking of problem but since the 3 time he start to refuse food..
actually i feed my baby lampropeltis every 5 day and now its already 8 days that he refuse to eat..
i actually know that baby snake cant stay long time without eating cause they will easily lose weight .. so i try to follow the guide on the portal but untyil now the snake still do not touch the pinkie :(
i tried watch him as well and he still dont get a shedding time so shed cannot be the cause..
he also do not get out from his hide box almost all the time so i start to feel afraid cause i dont know how i can bring him back to eat as the first and 2 timei fed him..
hope u can give me some help

I understand your english so is not a problem ;)
Only being 8 days without food is really nothing to worry about, snakes are very hardy and missing 2 meals wont be an issue for the snake, for example i had a baby corn hatch and not eat for 2 months is now doing fine.
I think from your description the snake may possibly be getting ready to shed, this process can take from a week to 2 weeks from start to finish and they normally hide away during this time as they feel vulnerable.
How often are you offering the food to the snake, as if there is a refusal leave it 5 days or so before offering another one. You can also leave the pinkie in the house for the snake to take overnight, but dont leave the pinkie in the tub for more than 12 hours as it will stink the place. |

| Just a wee bit of advice... you might be best to put a 2nd hide in the housing for the snake. Ideally they should have one in the hot end and one in the cool end xx |

prendere un mignolo e mettere la testa in poca acqua tiepida per qualche istante e cercare di nutrire fare questo renderą il cibo pił attraente per i serpenti

hi again and thank u so much for help me..
yes i heard that snakes can stay without food for long time without problem , in my case i just got worried cause its just a baby and his weight its just 11 gram..
last night i leave the pinkie insiede the hide box but in the morning the pink was still there ..
now as you told me i will wait 5 day before than try to feed again
also i will put a 2nd hide box on the opposite side but i think maybe is not necessary since in my tank each part got the same temperature because in bangkok its quite hot so i cannot use any kind of heater..

The 2nd hide is not really for heat purposes.. its more coverage and having somewhere to hide in xx |

hi, i tried to feed my snake again but nothing to do, he did not ate as well..
so today i got a chance to give a look at his feces and i realized that that the feces look like strange.. yellow color and very very smelly!!! may my snake got an intestine infection or something like that...?? i will put a pics

hi! right now its already 16 day that my baby snake (11 gram) won't eat the pinkie.. i already tried so many way like put the snake in a small container with the pinkie, make a small hole on the head of the pinkie, put the pinkie inside the hide box for 1 night, so i really dont know what can i do more than this.. should i start assist feeding?? or i should to wait more??
i also bring him to the vet and the vet said that i should try to use a medicine "metrogyl" (metronidazole) 2,5mg to 1 kg.. but the snake its a baby so i really afraid to stress him too much..
what can i do... :(

| is only 2 weeks there is nothing to worry about yet. I would offer food every 5 days. Snakes are resiliant but keep an eye on weight weekly and there is no need for assisting at the moment. |
