Hello everyone, I have a female albino dot dash king which hasn't fed for 8 weeks now and is losing weight. I have tried rat pups with her and also just placing the head of the mouse in her mouth and leaving her but as yet she still aint eaten, can anyone give me some more advice on how to help her please.
Thanks Terry

PLease can you answer the following questions as it will help us to give you the correct advise.

How old and how big is your snake? How much weight has she lost?
How long have you had her for?
What is her housing? How is it heated? How is the heat regulated and the temperature measured?
What is she normally fed? What methods have you tried to get her to eat other than above?

Hi Bud,
she is around 16 months old,i cant give an exact weight of her weight loss as ive never weighed her sorry, but she has lost a fair bit of weight.
Iv'e had her for approx 8 months now
she's in a 4x18"x18" viv with a heat mat and a ceramic heat bulb which is run off a stat, temp is set by the stat and also with 2 thermometers 1 at each end.. hot end and cool end.
She has been on xl mice for some time now with no probs, and apart from the methods mentioned i haven't tried anything else.
Thanks
Terry

I would suggest starting to keep a record of her wight as well.. that way you can have a more accurate way of seeing how much she is loosing. I have an adult snake who fasted for 10 weeks and didnt loose too much weight.. snakes can go a long while without feeding xx

Hi,
Sorry if this question reveals what a newbie I am when it comes to snakes, but there seems to be a lot of posts on this forum similar to this thread, about King snakes not eating.

I was wondering how long snakes tend to go without food. Clearly this depends on size and age but is there a rule of thumb?
