I recently got an albino kingsnake from a pet shop. he seemed really active at first but now he continuisly hides under his shavings. when i get him out he is fine to handle and not snappy at all. he is feeding regularily and everything seems to be fine. is it normal for him to be under the shavings most of the time
***edited title as it's really not that urgent*** |

Yep it's perfectly normal for Kings to burrow. One question though....what type of heating are you providing? I'm thinking if its a heat mat the snake may be burrowing to get to the heat. |

For Kings and Milks most people would say that you only need heat mats. I must be one of the few that prefer heat lamps...mostly because my snakes are in a converted attic that gets very little natural light and also gets very cold.
However its important that whatever heat source you use that its controlled by a thermostat, and if using a bulb that there's a guard around it |

I also prefer heat lamps, mainly because for some odd reason my milk doesnt like the mat. when i turn it on she goes all the way to the other side of the viv and wont go back over until i turn the mat off. |
