So!!!
How do you all incubate your eggs??
Honemade incubator..Or expensive manufactured one?
Perlite,Vermiculite...Or mix of both??
In boxes, inside incubator...Or laid straight into substrate with no lid??
Anyone tried incubation using suspended Tech, with no substrate????
Oh yes..I am bored!!!

I incubate in a poly box half full with a 70/30 mix of sand/vermiculite which is heavily wetted. In the middle of the mix (on the surface) is a small plastic tub that's been pushed into the mix nearly to the brim which contains just damp vermi. The eggs go into this.
The heat mat is on the side, part buried by the mix as well. The sand/vermi mix keeps the humidity right up and if the power goes for a few hours, the temps generally only drop by 1 or 2 degrees. However, I've only incubated beardie eggs like this.

I did manage to incubate corn eggs inside a takeaway tub that was floating in the top of a half-full fish tank once.

Now thats intresting...Never heard of it done quite like that before, but iv never hatched any lizard eggs to be honest. Iv heard of the water tech, but i cant be bothered with the water and heating unit thing.
I have just used an old viv with the eggs in boxes on vermiculite raised of the heat mat by chicken mesh boxes!
Thinking of making a poly-box incubator for next year....Thank you so much for sharing, i was beggining to think everybody was dead???

I shall get piccys later of my one.
I accidently unplugged it when incubating last time and I lost about 1.5c in around 18 hours, which I reckon is bloody good going.

Piccies would be cool!!
I had the devils own time keeping my temps up this year as my mat stat was being very, very temperamental...Your way does sound great for keeping temps constant, even as you say when the unexpected happens.
