Hello, i'm new to this forum & king snakes. I am getting my new addition once i get the temps right, so, need a bit of clarification please. In place i am getting him from told me to put heat mat one end, (on mat stat)for night time time, then spot bulb for day (on dimmer stat)so this is what i'm doing, i have the temps for mat spot on but it's the bulb that is giving me problems. I have the probe & thermometer probe on top of the hide(for the light)but can't get the temps right, so what am i doing wrong? Marg. |

i'd ditch the bulb tbh and just use the mat 24/7, no need for a night time drop or change in heating method |

I agree with GP that you don't need both and you don't need to bother with a night time drop. I prefer to use ceramics for heating but know that a lot of people just use heat mats, basically it's personal preference but one source of heat is all you need |
