Posted - 12/05/2009 : 02:48:11 hi everybody, im new on this site..i have a mystery snake, can any one identify it...i havnt figured how to get a photo on here yet so i will describe it and hope for some answers lol...1st i bought it as a mexican black king snake,a hatchling, was all black apart from some fine yellow banding, i was told it would go all black later...nope..lol..after its last shed, its now approx 16"..it has a black head, black eyes, the black has become more prominent on the neck as well now..but the fine yellow banding has become more prominent, still fine lines tho on the upper body, with a black/greyish body, the underside which was a chequer board black/white, has now turned to white/black spots with occasional orange spots, the vent is orange too...any ideas please ???...we have gone through several like the florida, desert, splendida, but she doesnt match any fully, but has some markings of several, could be a morph...but as it came from a reputable supplier to a pet store near me..nobody knows what it is or how it got sold as a mexican black...i aslo have 2 cali kings and a 6ft rat snake...so not entirely without some knowledge lol...so is it a king snake or not ?? thanks for any replies...ann |

Posted - 18/06/2009 : 23:58:20 Only a photo will help here but your description CAN fit the look of a MBK. Remember all are not 100% black. Only what we might consider "the best" :Mark |

I have to say its a good disguise. Like Superman and Clark Kent, you never see them in the same place at the same time |

the OP said it had yellow banding..........not speckles. i stand by my decision that an MBK shouldn't be stripey
anyway............... who's GP?? |
