just out of interest, who will be brumating and whos breeding what next season?.
Another thing is would it be worth just brumating a female as my male mexi has been a bit off-on with feeding and was worried he would have enough stored away, but hes still in great shape and has not lost any weight.

Thanks Scott. I'm actually toying with the idea of putting Sylar (mountain king 3 yrs 235g) with Jasmin (blotched king 3yrs 397g) and seeing what the offspring are like. Obviously they will be hybrids but it will give me some experience of breeding and incubating ready for when all of my other snakes are ready and I can produce 'thoroughbreds'.

It depends on which Species of Kingsnake we're talking about, Your usual Cali King, Stocky species, your on the same guidelines as the corns. The Three 3's (Feet, Age, Grams). Males however will be breed from 200g I've found, Aswell as 2 years old. Interms of Mountain Kingsnakes your talking knock of a 100g from each. So a female 200g+ and a male ideally 150g+.

Hi Jon,

I don't think Applegate deals with the morphs, But I may be wrong. I'll have a look. Interms of my 'Snake Room'. It's nothng special, Just tubs stacked up waiting for a rack, and the hatchlings/yearlings under the bed, Not very professional! Let me know if you still want to see the state! I'm moving house in a month or so, So the rack will be built and the lizards will be built around my babies.

males can be a bit younger but its best to use that rule imo (my opinion not being very knowledgable on breeding)

Cheers Lee, does that apply to males as well?

would of thought the same as corns,3years,3ft and 300gs but that would probably vary as kings can come in differant sizes

What size/weight do kings need to be to breed?

We are breeding:

Nagini and Hypanthia (if we are happy that Hypanthia has put enough weight on. She's not being brumated, Nagini is because he's a healthy weight already).

Cyd and Casper (we bred Cyd and Cornelius last year, but it didn't work out, so trying another male just in case. Cyd will brumate).

and with Evra's new super eating routine we are hoping that she might breed with one of BE's royals. She needs to put on a lot of weight though so won't be brumated.

I'd love to say every subspecies of Milksnakes I have. However, the majority are a year to shy from breeding, if not two. I'll be looking to produce Sinaloans (Het Stripes and HypoE's), Hondurans (Tangerine Double Het Snow, Depending on parents genetics, maybe some Anery and Albino's), Pueblans (Apricot and Poss Oreos) and if I manage to get them back Mexican Blacks.

The dullest part of owning the snakes is getting closer, Brumation. Alot lighter on the wallet though ;)
