... set off his flash on his camera whilst taking pictures of my baby milk snake.. i went a little mad at him cause she froze, then secreted on my bed. i put her straight back in her viv and am going to leave her be until tomorrow.

I'm really worried about her, will it have caused any damage??
I hope she'll be okay

ok thank you very much. she seems fine now. i think i was just freaking out a little last night. she's my first reptile and i'm a little nervous still.

I think she'll be fine, it only happened once and I would think prolonged flashing bright lights might effect her, but not just one.

Snakes are generally quite hardy so don't worry too much.

she's kipping in her cool hide right now, haven't seen her much this morning, but last night an hour or so after the incident, she was exploring her tank and burrowing in her chippings so she seems okay! i think i'll leave her be for most of today.

How is he now? Does he react to movement as usual?
GirlHarry Posted - 02/03/2009 : 23:09:01
ok, thank you for replying so quickly btw.. i really appreciate it. i'm stressing a teeny bit and probably rambling :(

Im thinking it over and im sure its to do with UV light. Maybe a camera flash wont be too bad.
GirlHarry Posted - 02/03/2009 : 23:06:12
oh, she's also 4/5 months old. should add that in there incase that's in any way relevant.

she seems to be nosing around the warm area, i just turned the room light on [i've turned it off for her to relax a little] and she was around the back of her warm hide. i placed my finger on the tank near her and her head turned. that's reassured me a little. at least she's not blind right?? i feel so guilty for letting it happen:( i know it was an accident but i've been so gentle with her so far, only had her for 2days :(

Dont panic. What is the snake doing now?
GirlHarry Posted - 02/03/2009 : 22:49:19
eugh.. like 7-10inches away!?
ohhh christ i'm panicking now :(:(:(:(
it was only once, and it was quick, but i'm so worried. poor sausage :(

It can affect albino's quite badly, but if it was for a split second I would try not to worry to much. How close was the camera to her face?
GirlHarry Posted - 02/03/2009 : 22:26:11
i've just been told that due to her being albino it could affect her quite badly? please tell me this isn't true!?? :(
