Hi,

The title sounds rediculous im sure... But I saw my Cali king open his mouth wide like a yawn the other day, twice yesterday but not so wide, and once again today. He doesn't appear to be gasping for breath or open mouth breathing at all but I was worried it could be a sign something isn't right?
Is this normal?

Thanks, Nic x

Much to my surprise the mouse has made its way into Cecil's belly already!!! x

Awe got home to see if Cecil cleans up with the damp paper towel and he was hiding away... When I finally coax him out for his wed night feed he is looking very dull and is in blue! So it looks like it was that all along!!! I offered the mouse as it was already defrosted... He has stuck and coiled it and is now tugging it about... Not sure if he intends on eating it tho! Last time he was in blue he left it. cnt wait to see him all shiny again, he was so beautiful last time he shed!!! :D excited mommy!!!! X x x

Let us know how it goes.

He's not looking blue yet, he only shed about 3 weeks ago so I'll try him with the paper towel when I get home (away for a couple of days with work now :( hope he be ok waiting for me). He's only she'd the once with me so I don't know how frequent to expect him too yet. Will let you know if he does tho.
Not seen him take a soak yet, thanks again :D

Have some more Jaffa's!!! X

He's not going into pre-shed blue is he? Colours will dull down overall and white could show a bit of yellowing.
Give him a 'run through' with a damp paper towel and see if he's been slithering in poop. I'm not too keen on plunking mine into a bath. If they feel the need then they will take a dip in their water bowls. I have big Pyrex dishes for this reason. The MBK does a regular 20 laps in his.

Jaffa Cakes are never refused around here .. unless you are a weirdo.

Awe thanks Auld Baldy, that's good to know. :D

While I'm asking random questions I do have another.... His belly/under side is looking a slight bit yellow.... His white is normally very white. It's so little that sometimes I think it's the lighting but I'm sure it's not. Is this a sign of anything? It's a bit icky but i wondered if it's from slithering thru faeces? Or if he may need a bath? I don't want to stress him out with a bath if he's not actually in need of one!

Cup of tea and a Jaffa cake anyone??? X

Not a ridiculous question and nothing to worry about, Nic. They do it from time to time. After eating they 'yawn' re-align the jaws. Sometimes they will give a yawn to pre-stretch the ligaments in the jaw. I think it is just in anticipation of an impending meal.
