I have a nelson milksnake that is about 2 1/2 feet long. First question is, he has gotten pail looking the last few days, is that normal? And also, we are feeding him 2 little pinkies once a week, is that about right? I am a new snake owner and love having him/her, just want to make sure I am doing best possible. He is in a 4x2 tank made for repitles with a heat pad, water bowl and hideout. Any help or info would be great. Thanks

My California King snake is 2 and half foot and she's on a Rat fuzzy every 7 days, leaves a nice bump in her.

if no bulge you are best upping the feeds as it wont be getting enough food. Over here in the UK pet shops will keep the snakes on the minimum amount of food required it saves them money. But it does look like you can move up a food size at least.

No theres not a buldge. I wondered about that, but I was feeding what the pet store was feeding, I uped it to 2 a week when a friend o
f mine said he wasent getting enough. She used to breed king snakes._

It may be coming upto a shed so the paling of the skin is normal. Check the eyes they should appear to cloud over. This is normal and should appear to return to normal colours then shortly after that it will shed its skin.

Your snake sounds as if it may be large enough to take a bigger prey item. When you feed the pinkies does it leave a bulge in the snakes belly. I would consider moving it up onto fuzzy mice if your snake is large enough to take it.
