Posted - 10/05/2011 : 22:09:28 I have a question that I hope you can help me with. My female Jungle corn is really active right now in her rub. She has a non tip water bowl but she keeps sliding through it and getting water everywhere. That isn't a problem so much but it makes the rub steam up as everything is damp and I'm worried about it making the environment too hunmid.
I keep changing the kitchen roll substrate as soon as it's damp and am only giving her a small amount of water in the bowl but it's still happening.
Is it best to remove the bowl and only put it in for say an hour a day to allow her to drink or is it best for her to have a constant supply of water and not worry about the rub being damp? Whats worse, a damp home or not having a water bowl?
Thanks. |

Posted - 14/05/2011 : 10:57:25 I have those bowls too! She doesn't tip them, just goes thrashing about her rub and gets water everywhere lol
So far I have been giving her a really small amount of water in the bowl, barely covering the base and in the last few days her rub has remained dry!

Posted - 13/05/2011 : 23:55:16 I know the one you're on about. It's way to light as well, the bowl itself weighs next to nothing and is easy to get underneath. Have a hunt for the classic style dog/cat bowls. Usually made out of a brownish glazed clay or something like that. Fairly heavy and they can't get underneath as easy which should stop most of the problem. |

Posted - 13/05/2011 : 17:34:25 It's a dog bowl, a plastic one from the pound shop, infact it's the one in the thread that the male is hiding under when I thought I lost him (think it's on TCS) |

Posted - 13/05/2011 : 16:59:50 What do you mean by non tip water bowl? Are they ceramic or plastic ones? I;m having the same issue with my baby corns but that's because they have grown big enough to play about with the coffee jar lids! |

Posted - 13/05/2011 : 08:48:22 I think I will try that then.
I gave her a small amount in a bowl yesterday to see if that worked and she still managed to empty it all over the place!

Posted - 11/05/2011 : 01:53:52 Trio permanantly trashed his viv with his waterbowl. Even now he very rarely has one in, he get's offered some water once or twice a day, unless he's coming up to shed, in which case he gets his water tub. I was at one point doing a total clearout of his viv 2 sometimes 3 times a week. His water tub now is a chick feeder, he's not thrown that over or gotten much water about the place when he uses that. |
