Posted - 21/03/2011 : 22:15:51 Hiya, my 4 year old albino cali has a couple of things that are bothering me. Firstly, he has two small lines under his chin, on either side of the centre as such, that are dry and a brown-ish colour. Secondly the skin around his nose seems very dry and a little 'tight' and thirdly he seems to be covered in small pink vein looking things which make his usual pink colour take on a red shade.
I've taken him to the vet regarding the first two things and was given some cream to put under his chin to prevent any infection but was told not to worry otherwise - though I have a bit of an unsettling feeling that the vet may not have been specialized in reptiles, though that's not to say he actually wasn't. The vein things seem to have appeard in the last day or two but his tummy has also taken on a slightly 'surnburnt' effect, in that it's a darker pink. He should be due to shed soonish but it's not that and the heat mat is on a stat - but he's not actually burnt burnt, just looks a slightly different, darker shade.
I would appreciate anyones knowledge on any of these as I can't bare the thought he may be suffering because I can't tell and the vet said not to worry.
Thanks x |

Posted - 21/03/2011 : 23:41:59 Hi, yeah I've been searching for my camera lead all evening, have found it now but the light in this room isn't bright enough to see what I mean clearly, though I will take some tomorrow or Wednesday - as soon as I'm home in the daylight when it should hopefully be more obvious, though other than that I've had him for just over 3 1/2 years and I haven't changed anything that I'm aware of other than using a different brand of aspen when I changed him and the others out about 3 weeks ago, though the other 3 (corns and boa) don't appear to have been affected by it. I am going to go back to my usual one after this anyway just incase. |
