Posted - 06/12/2009 : 21:37:23 LITERALLY feel like screaming at my ex-housemate. %$^£*$&^*(%%£^$"
The reason Darren and I got into snakes is because we fell in love with my ex-housemate's snake Dave. [normal corn] was just having a chat with him and asked baout dave, and joe said "he's on his way out" because "i just dont have the time to buy mice, i'm working all the time!" To be fair, i went absolutely mental at him. straight on the blower, saying Darren and I will buy him and pick him up. [Joe's in Birmingham, we're in Wales] He seemed a little reluctant because he "can't get time off work" but i had none of it. Darren's got room to keep him, and we'll both pay for any treatment/feed/bills to bring Dave back to health.
Long story shot, Darren & I will be bombing up to Birmingham at the end of the week to rescue the poor thing. We're so angry.
I do understand that work can be a bitch and sometimes it's hard to keep to your usual snakey regime, but like he said, he just doesn;t have the time anymore.
i really hope Dave's going to be okay :( He hasnt been fed in 3 weeks [he's an adult, a few yrs old], he cant remember last time he was cleaned out or when his water was changed. I asked him to change Dave's water immediately, and check him over for mites.
So worried :( Proper cant wait to have him :( nurse him back to health & either keep him or sell him on to a good home. Stress. |

Posted - 18/12/2009 : 08:50:18 Kaz + Hannah - Yeah i'm on TCS, darren's posted a few pictures on there, titled "Dave 'the rescued'" :) Not fantastic quality but they'll do til he gets more settled in. I'll get my bad-boy camera out then :)
Flick - Exactly what i said. Snakes aren't hard to look after. How many of us have at least a few hours for chill time in the evenings after work/school/uni? It takes me 30 seconds to change their water and maybe 10-15 minutes to fully clean out and disinfect the vivs. Instead of sitting back and watching a repeat of Eastenders, just crack on with the snakey jobs!
But nevermind, my ex housemate seemed so grateful and relieved when i took him i doubt he'll get another pet for a very long time. He didn't even say bye to Dave :( he opened up the viv and basically told me to crack on with it. So i did! Took Dave out, briefly examined him for mites/ any visible unhealthy signs and into the fabric bag he went. I'd be devastated if someone took my girls away from me :(

yeah definately. well Dave's now demolished two mice and seems so much happier. he's quiet and dwelling in his warm hide. we're leaving him alone for a week or so now so he can just recover with clean water and a clean viv. he'll be fine
Glad to hear that, sure he'll be much happier. |

Posted - 11/12/2009 : 20:24:52 I was thinking that exact thought, but when i text my ex housemate telling him we were feeding Dave tonight, he replied with "yeah good idea, feed him asap".. which makes me think that it was probably over 3 weeks ago that he was fed last :\
Darren just weighed him, he's between 2 1/2 - 3 years old and weighs 380g. Not sure if that's acceptable really? He was about the same size as he was when i lived with him, which was around 6 months ago.. |

Posted - 11/12/2009 : 17:56:36 well done,it might be worth holding on for a few days with the feed just to let him settle and warm up. |

Posted - 11/12/2009 : 15:25:25 We picked Dave up today. To be fair, he looked ok, was just freezing. we checked his thermostat [he had a lamp] and it was on 23 :\
we warmed up the car for the journey home and he was nice and warm by the time we got back to wales.
darren's feeding him tonight, so fingers crossed he'll munch :) |

Posted - 08/12/2009 : 08:52:59 Thanks Kaz.
Well i spoke to him last night and it's all go. we'll be picking Dave up friday morning. My ex housemate has also promised he's changing Dave's water everyday. I'm just worrying about the conditions of his viv. Nevermind, hopefully he'll be a strong 'un. Thanks for all your support guys, i was just so angry at the time i needed to vent it all out. |
