Hi

Our 2 year old King snake has escaped (don't ask!). Does anyone have any tips or advice for finding him?

We tried leaving mice around the house to tempt him (he is a good feeder) but no result

thanks

steven

@ Welly - He was only a few feet away this time but last time he got out he made it all the way through the house and I found him in our front porch!!!

I had two sub adult corns escape from the same viv how they got out only they know ,no open door or broken vent nothing,as I said before one turned up in my bathroom no sign of the second one yet.My Honduran milk that reappeared after 9 months got out of the same sort of viv so they are all in rubs now

congrat's. Thats good news. How far away was he out of interest?

I found Haku in my fiances dressing gown pocket!! Good job I found him before he did.

Its incredible that they can get out of the tinniest of places. Hopefully I have made it as inescapable as possible, getting him out for more handling and letting him have a bit of an explore with out taking my eye off him too much.
I swear if he had hands I'd get him a baseball and a mitt!

Dont give up hope I found my Honduran milk that was last seen going in under a shed 4 gardens down the road 9 months ago in my own shed last Saturday. It somehow survived the bitter winter and looks really well. All my snakes are now in rubs instead of vivs

Probably- but they better get ready because once the ferrets come home they have to run and hide or get eaten

Ha ha forget within six feet of the viv one of my escaped corns is hiding up in next doors garden oops
Welly Posted - 27/06/2010 : 22:21:17
Warm places. Concentrate within 6 foot around the viv. Check behind your fridge, oven. Inside computers.
Think of where is warm and a from where a snake can actuallyget too. Mine as ecaped or hours on end 3 times. Always turns up.He has ende up Inside of my subwoofer and inside a Live Pc!!
Just because you think he won't fit into little holes it's best to check.

How long has he been out for?

sorry to hear that,i would search the immediate ares and warm areas like cable boxes ,fridges, pc's ect,you could also place bottle traps around, heres a guide to make them http://www.thekingsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=263 you could also put talc down in doorway to see if hes gone through.
