I don't think there's many, but a odd few sometimes come up on the classifieds. Always miles away from us though

...and I would love to trade a woodini for ANY zonata..

Notice the black "webbing " on the white and red bands?
Are there many zonata in the UK?

Well it's obviously not pyromelana as they would have a white nose.
A better photo would help. I know ruthveni is more plausable but that snake has a few zonata characters as well to me.
In which case it would be a much better score!

they said male, but i dont know if it has been probed as male or what...

i dont know if i will get him yet, he is in Warickshire, i really want a woodini, but i think that it is going to be hard to find one..

I would assume that they will be. A degree either way will not cause a problem anyway. Is it male or female. I would love to find another Arizona to mate with Sylar

ok thanks, are the temps the same as for a Queretaro? i would think they would be, but just checking.

A 3 foot viv would be fine for an adult. My book doesn't give the size for all mountain kings but it does for a few of the other L. Zonata species and most seem to grow to between 3 and 4 feet.
wolfspirit Posted - 07/04/2009 : 18:35:35
what kind of set up does this snake need? and viv size for an adult? would a 3 foot be ok?

Just read about a couple of the others.

San Bernadino mountain kingsnake (L. Zonata Parvirubra)
The book says "The snout tends to be entirely black"

Just googled it and found this

Just been looking in my book and most mountain kings have a creamy coloured nose whereas yours is black. There are only three pictures of species with black noses. Two are the San Pedro mountain king (lapropeltis zonata agalma) and the Queretaro (Lampropeltis ruthveni) but both of these have red patches on their black heads. The third is a San Diego Mountain king (L. zonata pulchra) which has much less red on its head but still appears to have red eyebrows. There are loads of others that aren't pictured in the book so I can't do any better than that at the moment.

I'll keep looking for you though

It does look similar to Sylar but he has orange eyebrows. Apparantly thats one of the ways to tell the difference between these snakes. I have a book on tri-coloured Lampropeltis so I'll see if I can identify it later

Hi GP, yes it does, i went hunting and it came up with a Queretaro...
