All welcome, including supervised children and (obviously) reptiles!
IT'S FREE - just turn up have a chat, have a drink and handle a few snakes. There may be dry goods again from Reptiles-ink, maybe some snakes for sale too!
REMEMBER: you don't have to bring a snake with you, you don't have to handle the ones that are there, you don't have to attend promptly at 6.00pm, you don't have to stay till the very end, you don't have to have a drink TO GO TO THE RIGHT PUB!
Just come along and enjoy |

Posted - 07/05/2009 : 19:17:43 http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/snakes/292486-york-reptile-night-may-2009-a.html it starts off nicely enough........
and the pub was busier than the old place and it's open plan although we were tucked round the corner, music was too loud for a conversation (and not decent enough music to sing along to!) |

Posted - 07/05/2009 : 12:19:38 I hope Pauline didn't think we didn't go because of that post.
I was just that it was Bank Holiday Sunday and it was warm and sunny. Plus BE had other plans so it would've just been me and Lewy anyway.
Why is it loud? Was it a busy pub? |

Posted - 07/05/2009 : 09:30:21 politics is probably the wrong word, some people, most of whom have never attended or ever would attend, were complaining that reps were off heat and it was detrimental to their health, the risk of bringing nasties such as mites, RI viruses and IBD home to your own collection, the stress of travelling, being handled lots by many many unfamiliar people. all very valid points but IMHO you take the same risks going to a rep shop, and snakes in a shop have the same handling issues. at the york rep night there's heatmats provided if you want, or you can bring your own, you can keep them warm travelling by using a hotwiter bottle, there's alcohol hand rub available and attendees are trusted not to bring any ill or infected/infested reps, and re. stressing the reps it's common sense to not bring a particularly stressy individual eg. i wouldn't take my royal but have taken the corns and Marilyn.

Posted - 06/05/2009 : 19:54:09 yes and hmmmm!
yes i went, it was very quiet (people and reps), i think because of all the politics and stuff posted on the dark side recently. Dave brought his pair of gorgeous patternless pines and his cali babies and Pauline brought Ash the sinder boa, a very placid blood python, an adult bull and two smaller ones. and that was it! i didn't take Marilyn as, after i'd delayed feeding her so i could take her (she was due a feed on Friday), i realised i had nothing to take her in as Dumbo is living in her transport tub now, doh!
as for the new venue it's nice enough, my half a lemonade was a lot cheaper too but it was very loud. so loud that you struggled to have a conversation, so hmmm. |
