Hardly any of my snakes are regulary in the warm end - they will always find their own preferred temp, we just have to offer them a choice

The warm end sounds like it is at the limit of where it should be, but is not dangerously hot. Perhaps your snake uses the warm end but only when you are asleep so you don't get to see it?

hi,

ok thanks a lot for the advice i know you are right. now i know she feeds ok i will leave her alone for a week until her next feed. patients isnt one of my strong points.
one thing i have noticed is that she doesnt seem to go to the warm end much at all. the stat takes it to 31oc then goes down to 29oc then kicks in again do you think the warm end is too warm?

thanks

I can understand the temptation to feed and handle your snake but the best advice is to give your snake time to settle in to help prevent stress. Give your snake a week to settle now and it will be better for both of you in the long run

that self control didnt last long, with out a decent settle in period there can be problems later like aggresion, just try and leave him now.

hi,

sorry but i couldnt control myself anymore so i fed her a pinkie. i didnt handle her exept to put her in the feeding tub. one little shake of the pink and she woofed it down. then i put her straight back i the tank. its quite emotional when your little one feeds for the first time with me anyway.

thanks

Kings are more adventurous than other snakes- they love exploring.

I know it's hard to wait a week before playing with a new snakey, but it'll be better in the long run.

some hide and some dont stop,it ays to let them settle first.

hi,

ok thanks, its really hard not to get her out but she is a little bit skittish so i will let her settle in. at night she is out and about exploring her tank which is cool because i expected her to just hide for a week or so.

thanks

i would give her a week to settle in with no handling,it wont harm her to miss a feed
