Posted - 12/10/2008 : 18:26:15 We heard somewhere that males stop eating over winter and Nagini (who we now know if possibly a male) didn't eat all last winter and is starting to get reluctant again this year.
Just wondered if anyone else noticed this with their males? |

Posted - 01/11/2008 : 12:23:55 I dunno if Tartan is a male or not obv, but she/he does slow down her eating in the winter. She still eats, but she eats physically slower. And she doesnt poop as much. But I may just have a wierd snake :P |

Posted - 27/10/2008 : 14:20:16 Who is she breeding with? Or are you just giving her a nap? |

Posted - 27/10/2008 : 13:29:16 We have weighed Cyd ready for her big sleep- but she's not liking it so far. The two weeks without food has really upset her. She keeps giving me evil eye everytime I walk past the viv
She's ready to go now though, been cleaned out, light has been reduced and she's gone down 2 degrees so far. Hope it goes well. |

Posted - 27/10/2008 : 11:22:02 If you do brumate Nagini, weigh him/her before and after. It would be interesting to see the weight changes |

Posted - 27/10/2008 : 11:14:37 I think it would be a good idea- a good sleep might do him good anyway. He might not be as grumpy next year |

Posted - 26/10/2008 : 10:07:51 Usually tends to be preparing for brumation. My male Mexican black has done the same, however much to my delight my female took 4 Rat fluffs. It depends on the photo-period and more importantly the temperature. It's nothing to worry. If you don't want him to brumate, raise the temperature a little aswell as the photo-period if you can. Otherwise, save some money on electricity and food (Aim for 10-16 Degrees) and let him be for the next 3 months.

Posted - 25/10/2008 : 17:04:18 well Nagini has refused point blank to eat again this week, might consider brummating him if he's not going to eat anyway.

Posted - 17/10/2008 : 10:03:39 I have found that both sexes go off there feed during the winter, but more so the males. I brumate mine any ways so they are off food for 3 months, not of there own choice. |

Posted - 12/10/2008 : 19:31:06 He's scared of them! Don't know why, but he just hisses and goes for rats in a aggressive way rather than an eating response.
Weird snake. |
