Might have to try jacketing a chick again. She loves chicks. It's like an addiction. |

Just need to get Nagini to take one. She's scared of them
Do you know any one that breeds mice?? If so see if you can roll a washed rat FLUFF not a weaner in some mousie wood shavings, This way works well to some times, but you got to really get the rat all mucky. |

Posted - 18/10/2008 : 09:53:24 One of the easiest ways to change the type or size of food is to introduce the snake to new food after brumation. They are normaly to egar to eat any thing to worry what it is. Some snakes you have a job to up the size of say a mouse so you have to give it 2 instead, but after brumation give it one bigger than normal and 99% of the time the snake will eat it. A few years ago i used to breed my own rats, most of my snakes were on them. then i changed jobs and didnt have so much time on my hands so stopped doing rats. i could only get mice and the occasional rat weaner from my suplier.i had big problems converting some of my snakes back onto mice. but after the next brumation i had 100% success rate in feeding mice. |

Posted - 27/09/2008 : 21:02:43 Just tried Nagini on rats again for the first time in ages and no luck, even after braining it.
When we hold it in the tongs, it's like she's scared of it and becomes defensive and skittish. We have left it in the viv at the moment and although she's had a good sniff, Nagini won't take anything she hasn't grabbed and seemingly 'killed'. She seems interested, but doesn't seem to realise it's food.
Any suggestions?
(Evra didn't take her rat either! Bloody royals and kings ) |

Posted - 20/09/2008 : 12:31:09 Nagini did, but she's off the hard stuff now
Both Nagini and Evra don't like rats, but really could do with getting on them, whereas Cyd loves them, but can't eat them because they make her chunky |

Posted - 19/09/2008 : 06:53:48 That's odd, no?
I thought rats gave off more scent so were more popular with snakes? - I've never had problems with rats (but I have never owned a King). |
