hi folks just a quick question i have adopted a 3year old corn snake i have only had it 2days went to try take it out of its viv and noticed its tail was rattling (vibrating) and it tried 2 strike me its now very angry and going crazy in its viv but its feeding day today and i really need 2 clean its viv last owner neglected it and has not cleaned it in over a month wich peed me off thts why a took it qust wondering if this is normal and will it calm down any advice would be greatfull thanks.

Once of my anerys has mega fits of tail rattling, no amount of handling helps with him though he's just naturally weeed off I think. I notice my corns get moodly in this type of weather/this type of year and will tail rattle though. |

and i forgot to say i bought a big container so gony try take him out tomorrow feed him and clean his viv again properly this time am not gony give up on him yet |

Basil got fed his first fuzzy today. I took him out his viv to feed him in his carry box so he didn't digest any Aspen. This way I was able to watch him so I really got to appreciate the tail rattling. I thought it was quite cute actually. He managed to munch down the fuzzy really well so i'm pleased about that. He's spent the rest of the day in his viv sleeping off his meal. My lovely boy lol! |

my cal king snake tail rattles every time I try putting her in a RUB- shes happy enough in her viv, and likes coming out to explore and climb over the fambly, but try sticking her into a rub and she sounds like she's using a hammer drill to do some major DIY project in there... it makes her really cross.. I think it's cute

Yea one of my kings and 2 of my corn are tail rattles,but once there out of there viv there pretty calm I think its funny how there they make there tail rattles.

Yeh I have a wee corn who loves abit of tail rattling. Alot of my kings do it too, generally during or straight after feeding time. The snake will be stressed with being moved to a new house etc so I am not surprised it's acting this way.
Normally I would say let the snake settle in for a week before you go near it but if the tank is really dirty then I'd wanna clean it to. I am sure it will calm down once it settled in and gets used to you, will just take some time.
