Posted - 13/03/2012 : 23:28:14 Spot is in the middle of having seconds, and is doing it again-
none of the "strike- gobble gobble gone" like my corns, with both her appetiser and main course (and last time she ate too) she grabs the mouse, then spends ten minutes dragging it about before she settles down to eat it. The one she had just now, while she was swallowing it, she was shaking it from side to side the whole time it was going down....
do all kings play with their food, or is mine a bit more peculiar than i thought???? |

Posted - 02/05/2012 : 11:14:52 Basil can be really fussy with his rat pup - hence why I think it's time to move in on to fuzzies. When I first got him he was so underfed that he would gobble his food in seconds, no playing or messing, but he's now taken to constricting it, particularly if its a fat rat pup! lol
Still amazing to watch though |

Posted - 01/05/2012 : 19:06:50 My larger female strikes, ALMOST, everytime. My newer young male, does about 17 laps of his viv, then strikes, then leaves it. ... This goes on for some time before he finally eats. |

Posted - 07/04/2012 : 22:24:26 My king does anything but play with its food. It strikes quickly and will quite happily constrict multiple mice. The first is normally gone within 3 minutes. It never ceases to amaze me |

Posted - 14/03/2012 : 19:28:12 I know what you mean about the strike, compared to the corns- she didn't strike at the first tidgy mouse, just nuzzled it a bit then dragged it round and round, gave it a good shake then ate it. But that must've got her appetite up cos when I offered her the second one she was so fast it made me jump- which startled her and she reacted by dropping the mouse- buT--
..caught it in a body coil!! talk about lightning reflexes!!! she carried it about in a coil-grip for a bit, then grabbed it by a back leg and gave it a fifteen minute backwards tour of the viv before eating it arse end first
DEFinitely an interesting snake to have |

Posted - 14/03/2012 : 14:32:20 My hypo greyband made a total meal of her fuzzie this week by grabbing and constricting it 5 times, then carrying it about the RUB and finally taking it into a cave. Eventually she came out and I thought "cool shes eaten" then i saw her swinging from a branch still with it in her mouth. She eventually ate it up there. Whole escapade took about 40 minutes. Normally she just eats them straightaway, No idea what was going on in her head this week.
The MBKs and the albino cali just eat them instantly, starting with a HUGE strike that shakes the RUB lol although the male MBK always takes longer as he eats them backwards everytime! |

Posted - 14/03/2012 : 12:35:31 Mine rolls and drags it about too, he rolls it about the tub with no attempt to eat his mouse for like 10 mins, just rolls it lol. When mine strikes though, it strikes far better than any corn I've seen! |

Posted - 14/03/2012 : 00:53:43 Mine does pretty much the same, except with less playing around, probably. He doesn't strike, just drags it out of the tongs and around a bit. |
