Posted - 27/01/2012 : 10:37:39 when i went to view the cali king yesterday there were 2 to choose from both looked in good health, alert, friendly ect but i noticed on 1 of them that after the vent where it usually tapers down to the tail tip stayed the same width for another 2-3cm.
i will openly admit im not an expert on kings so i took the 1 that (in my experience)had a normal looking tail. is this something thats normal or is it something i should avoid if i ever end up buying another king?
i didnt think much of it last night but this morning its been niggling in the back of my head. |

Posted - 27/01/2012 : 11:57:25 As far as I'm aware, although I know about as much as you do in these matters, the females have the longer tail, while the males' tails start a little further down and are shorter.
Again, I'm not sure, but I think this is a kind of rough technique to determine the sex of a snake without probing it. |
