**grim story ahead**

I fed King Julian a mouse that had defrosted in a sandwich bag in a mug full of hot/warm water. It must have softened the mouse up a bit too much, because when I picked it up with tongs and waved it around in front of him it kinda burst a bit. There was poop. Much poop.
Julian has the crappestworst strike response ever, so he basically ended up lying on it, then when he tried to eat it poop went over his eyes and just EVERYWHERE.

Anyway, am I going to have to clean him, or is he all good with this? I cleaned his viv after (obviously, this would be the one time he dragged it off the feeding dish), and replaced a whole lot of his substrate.

He hasn't got anything visible left on his face, he wiped it all off on the substrate, which I then cleaned up.

And yeah, I'm not using hot water again. I've learnt my lesson.

You should never defrost with hot water really :P and that's why. So glad I have never had that happen to me! I defrost mine naturally to avoid popping unless I'm in a rush.

If he's covered in crap i'd definately be trying to clean him but you don't want to stress him out either. Maybe just wet a towel and let him slide through it, that should take some of it off.

I had a similar issue with my royal last week (yes he ate ) when he burst the rat constricting it and it went everywhere. As he was eating it I was cutting off the exposed intestines with a pair of scissors so he wouldn't get covered. My wife walked in and shouted "OMG that stinks and quickly left" He only had some stuck to his face so I was able to wipe this off quite easily.
